Scout's project helps Mansfield coffeehouse
BY MATT KAKLEY SUN CHRONICLE STAFF
Clint Valentine, a 17-year-old senior at Mansfield High School and a candidate for the rank of Eagle Scout, may have gotten more than he bargained for when he asked Mansfield's Rose Garden Coffeehouse for a little help. Valentine is a member of the Congregational Church, where his Eagle Scout project is a complete restoration of the vestry. Since that's the room where the Rose Garden holds its monthly folk music concerts, he asked if he could request contributions from concert-goers at last Saturday's performance.
Valentine ended up receiving $185 from concert-goers, and the coffeehouse kicked in an additional $185 for a total of $370. The money will go toward more paint and supplies for Valentine's project.
